Clinton praises ‘tremendously impressive’ GOP tactics

During the 2016 election, Hillary Clinton I boasted. Republicans were probably her proudest opponents, she says, but now she sounds almost jealous.

Speaking about Democrats’ failure to defend Roe v. Wade, the 76-year-old Clinton complained that her party sometimes lacks the indomitable resolve of its right wing.

“What I appreciate is that they never give up,” she said. The New York Times “They’re relentless,” he said in a recent interview. “They accept the loss, bounce back, regroup and raise more money.”

“The way they do it is very impressive. And we don’t have anything like that on our side.”

For years, many Democrats have complained about conservative infrastructure policies.

Democrats like Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) Blaming the organization and the Federalist Society, which promotes the appointment of conservative judges.

Clinton argued that Democrats were caught off guard in the lead-up to the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

“We didn’t take it seriously, we didn’t understand the threat,” the former secretary of state argued. “Most Democrats, most Americans didn’t realize that we were facing an existential battle for the future of this country.”

“I could have fought more.”

Since then, Democrats have made abortion a top priority ahead of the 2024 presidential election, while many Republicans across the country have softened their stance.

The former 2016 Democratic presidential candidate spoke in the interview ahead of the release of her book, “The Fall of Roe: The Rise of a New America,” due June 4.

She reflected on her loss in the 2016 presidential election, when both parties were vying to win the presidency to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s Supreme Court seat.

Clinton claimed she was dismissed as an “alarmist” when she warned Democrats in 2016 about the dangers of undoing Roe.

Her loss paved the way for former President Donald Trump to appoint three justices to the Supreme Court, including to fill Scalia’s old seat, which the Republican-led Senate had left vacant for months.

During the Obama administration, some Democrats tried quietly to pressure Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to resign because the party still controlled the Senate and could have replaced her with a justice who agreed with her on the Supreme Court.

But she refused, and Republicans ultimately took control of the Senate, shifting the balance of power on the nation’s highest court.

Following Ginsburg’s death in 2020, President Trump successfully elevated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to her former position.

Clinton also warned that the 2024 election cycle was an “existential threat”.

“The point is, if we don’t get it right in this election, we may never have a real election again,” Clinton told the outlet, foreboding.

“I say this because I believe it. And if we no longer have real elections, we will be governed by a small right-wing group that is well-organized, well-funded and has achieved exactly what they want in terms of rolling back women.”

Reflecting on her 2016 election loss, Ms. Clinton again criticized former FBI Director James Comey for sending a last-minute letter 11 days before the election announcing that the FBI was reopening an investigation into Ms. Clinton’s email server. Mr. Comey then again declined to press charges.

Clinton argued that Comey’s actions had cost her the support of female voters.

“But when he did that to me, the people who walked away from me – my constituents – were women,” she recalled. “They walked away from me because, as a woman, I have to be perfect, and they couldn’t take risks with me.”

“They were willing to take a risk with Trump. Trump had a long list of flaws, so to speak, that showed he was imperfect, because he was human.”
