Georgia police officers ‘arrest’ alligator found in resident’s driveway

A Georgia alligator was “arrested” and placed into a police car after appearing illegally in a resident’s driveway, a video showed.

Chatham County Police released video of the alligator “arrest” on Facebook on May 25. The incident occurred on Friday near Savannah.

“On Thursday evening, Corporals Blackledge and Stapleton sprang into action after a suspicious visitor was spotted in the area,” police said in a Facebook post.

“Watch as we capture an alligator, put it in the back of a police car and release it back into the wild.”

Body camera footage shows officers smacking the alligator’s mouth to restrain the reptile, then putting it in the back of a patrol car before releasing it into the wild.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed the video, with many leaving amusing comments.

“Did you read him his rights?” one person joked.

The alligator does a “death roll” while a North Carolina police officer captures it. “It’s roaring.”

“Poor alligator. I’ve been in the back of that Explorer,” joked another.

Other locals praised the bravery of the officers who captured the crocodile.
