A Georgia man has been arrested after admitting to setting his stepmother’s trailer on fire after her mother refused to sell him land, police said.
FOX 5 Atlanta reported that two Rome Police Department officers were dispatched to a structure fire at 11 Addington Court late Saturday night after a caller reported a woman trapped inside a trailer on the property.
Police said flames were coming from the roof and around the front and back doors, preventing entry.
The outlet reported that 55-year-old Edward Lally, his 26-year-old son Timothy Edward Lally and their 30-year-old neighbor, Quentin Patrick Ely, were all outside the trailer when police arrived.

“He started the fire. My wife is in there. I want him to go to jail,” Edward Lally, who lived in the mobile home, reportedly told police, pointing at his son.
FOX 5 reported that police then asked Timothy Edward Lally if he set the trailer on fire.
“Yes I did,” he reportedly replied.
Timothy Edward Lally was subsequently arrested by police.
Edward Lally told police that the land was owned by his son’s mother and was renting it to him and his late wife, and that his son suggested that his mother sell the land and give him the money.
Timothy Edward Lally allegedly told his father and stepmother he was going to set the trailer on fire while they were at work. Edward Lally told police his son started the blaze by lighting a stack of papers on fire and throwing it on a mattress in his room.

Edward Lally thought his wife was right behind him when he ran from the trailer, but when he got outside he saw she was still inside. He believes she may have run back inside the trailer to try to rescue their cat and two dogs, FOX 5 reported.
Firefighters found the bodies of a woman and three pets inside the home.
Police reported finding a small torch lighter and a small amount of marijuana in Timothy Edward Lally’s possession when they arrested him, and they also obtained a search warrant for the home.
