Many are wondering how Tom Brady will perform when he steps into the Fox broadcast booth this season, but at least two people at the network are confident he’ll be a hit.
Fox’s Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews were appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” when the topic of Brady came up.
Andrews will be working with Brady as part of Fox’s top NFL broadcast crew this year, and after having lunch with the legendary quarterback, he had no doubt Brady would be able to captivate viewers with his knowledge and insight.
“We once sat down with him for lunch and he told us about his career,” Andrews says. “It was a treat for us. We love the inside information. We get to hear the things we’ve always wanted to know.”
The three joked that it was infuriating that Brady had been good at almost everything he’d ever done.
“You look at his resume and you know he excels at everything he does, so this should be no exception,” Thompson added during the conversation.
Along with Andrews, Brady will have play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhart on the broadcast.
The first time Brady will be in the Fox booth is on September 8 when the Browns face off against the Cowboys.
Brady himself seemed confident he could bring a fresh perspective to the network’s football broadcasts. He spoke to Front Office Sports in March.
“I believe I can offer a pretty unique perspective that I think a lot of people are going to really like. It’s going to be a lot of work, but it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he told the media outlet. “It’s important to always challenge yourself and grow in different areas, and this is definitely one way that I’m doing that.”
Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox in May 2022, but some thought the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback would never land a broadcasting role.
