It wasn’t all sunny over Memorial Day weekend. A thunderstorm struck It will spread to the Midwest on Sunday and the Northeast on Monday.

The storm caused major league games to be delayed and even postponed, but for Cincinnati Reds employees, one delay was a bit more scary than most.

The Reds hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, but umpires called for sheets to be placed on the field in the sixth inning after Cincinnati was leading 4-0 and looking to win their third straight game.

In natural grounds crew fashion, the tarps were put up quickly, maybe too quickly.

A woman working on the grounds crew team was killed and eaten by a tarp.

“Good news, bad news. The Reds are up by four. We’re down by five. The bad news is the Tarp Monster has caught one of our grounds crew members. That one guy is going to lose and is trying to crawl his way to freedom,” said play-by-play announcer John Sadak.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers extended their losing streak to five, their longest since 2019.

Jonathan India and Nick Martini each had two RBIs for the Reds, while Brent Suter, Nick Martini, Carson Spires and Alexis Diaz combined to allow just five hits on the afternoon.

Freddie Freeman hit a one-run double in the ninth inning to end a 0-for-22 Dodgers streak with runners in scoring position. Freeman advanced on the next inning without a defensive response, but Diaz struck out Teoscar Hernandez and Andy Page.
