Former President Trump on Tuesday endorsed a primary challenger to Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-Va.), arguing that the senator’s attempts to reconcile with him were “way too late.”
“Bob Goode is bad for Virginia and bad for America,” Trump wrote on his Truth social platform.
Goode and his primary opponent, Virginia Sen. John Maguire, recently traveled to New York City to support the former president in his trial over alleged hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, a charge that Trump and his supporters call “election interference.”

Goode, a leader of the Freedom Caucus, famously endorsed Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is running against Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Goode was one of the few lawmakers brave enough to stand up to Trump.
Good ultimately endorsed the former president after DeSantis dropped out of the race. “I am honored to fully endorse Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States. President Trump has been the best president I have had during my lifetime, and I urge him to restore the policies that have worked so well for America,” Good wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in January.

“He turned his back on our great movement and attacked and fought me relentlessly until recently expressing his warm and ‘loving’ endorsement. But the reality is, it’s too late now. The damage is already done!” Trump said Tuesday.
“I just want to Make America Great Again and no one can help me do that more than Navy SEAL and highly respected state legislator John Maguire, a true American hero,” he added, saying he “fully endorsed” Good’s primary opponent.

Good’s campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment by publication.
Good, a Virginia Republican, could face a real risk of losing his party’s support in the state’s June primary. McGuire also won the endorsement of the Republican Jewish Coalition, a powerful Republican group, which specifically cited Good’s votes against aid to Israel in its war against Hamas.

That’s not the only friendly fire Goode will have to deal with heading into the election: After deciding to endorse a candidate in the primary against fellow Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas, Gonzales indicated he plans to campaign against Goode in his home state of Virginia.
“I’m going to be spending a lot of time in Virginia and other places, so I think my race is just the beginning. You could give me your all and still not beat me, because you’re not,” Gonzalez said. He spoke on CNN, He responded to Good’s support for the challenger.
