Farrakhan has praised Duggan on multiple occasions, including at this year’s Saviors Day rally in Detoit, where he thanked Duggan and the deputy mayor for their “incredible kindness.” Defoe read out the declaration. According to the Nation of Islam’s “Final Call” newsletter, a letter from Duggan’s office to convention participants welcomed the convention “home” to Detroit.

According to Federal Election Commission records reviewed by Fox News Digital, DeFoe received nearly $60,000 from Slotkin’s campaign in a variety of payments, including salary, benefits and reimbursements, between July 2023 and March 2024. The March 2024 payment is the most recent according to public filings, so the amount will likely be higher when the July report is released.
