Good Fellows Actor Frank Sivello has slammed AMC for adding a trigger warning notice to its airing of the popular mob movie, calling the warning “an insult.”
The cable network recently issued a warning against the 1990 Martin Scorsese masterpiece starring Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta, accusing the film of containing “cultural stereotypes” and lacking “inclusivity.”
“The film contains language and cultural stereotypes that do not meet today’s standards of inclusion and tolerance,” the warning reads. read“It may offend some viewers.”
But that warning doesn’t sit well with Sivero, who plays Mafia hitman Frankie Carbone in the film. TMZ report.
Sivero believes the warning is not only unnecessary but also an insult to the film’s director and actors.
“In a way, it’s kind of confusing to me, because AMC cut the whole movie, you can’t hear the words, they took out the words, so why are you so upset?” he told TMZ.
Sivero added that Scorsese didn’t set out to make the film with a formulaic script, but instead worked with his actors to develop their portrayals in the film.
“It’s a bit unsettling because I was able to improvise,” he said. “To take the tension out of that horrible moment, I created it, made that moment real,” the actor added.
