What is a Hopper?
Born from a 2020 concept by the innovative minds at Hamburg-based startup Hopper Mobility, the Hopper is a semi-enclosed three-wheeled vehicle that’s making waves in Germany. It’s more than just an e-bike; it’s a sleek, car-like machine that keeps you active while protecting you from the elements.

Why is this a hot topic?
Legally, the Hopper is an e-bike, which means you can ride in bike lanes and avoid traffic. But don’t be fooled – it’s also great for the road. Hopper’s pedal power is boosted by a 250-watt rear hub motor, giving you speeds up to 16 mph, and a 30 Ah/48 V/1,440 Wh lithium iron phosphate battery gives you 40 miles of range on a single charge. Want to go further? Attach the optional solar panel for even more acceleration.

High tech and eco-friendly
Hopper ditched the traditional chain drive in favor of a pedal-by-wire system. As you pedal, electricity is generated to power the motor – a smooth, maintenance-free ride that’s better for the planet.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR VEHICLE
Whether you’re hauling friends or cargo, the Hopper has you covered. Choose the Passenger model with its comfortable second seat, or the Cargo model with its 300-liter lockable compartment. Despite its lightweight 265-pound frame, it can withstand up to 353 pounds of passenger or cargo.

Extensive features
The Hopper also comes equipped with a full lighting system, a touchscreen control centre on the steering wheel, a windshield defogger, a security system and even USB ports for your gadgets, and will soon have sealing sides for those frigid days.

Is the Hopper safe?
Hopper is designed with safety in mind, with many safety features that enhance its confidence on the road, and its semi-enclosed construction allows for a fun, active ride while providing a layer of protection from the elements and road hazards.
Hopper’s design includes a large windshield and roof for visibility and protection. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver in heavy traffic, reducing the risk of accidents. The vehicle’s stability is enhanced by its tadpole trike configuration, with two 20″ bicycle tires at the front and one 10″ scooter tire at the rear, providing a balanced and safe ride.

Additionally, Hopper’s pedal-by-wire system eliminates the need for a traditional chain drive, reducing maintenance concerns and the possibility of mechanical failure. A complete lighting system ensures visibility on the road, and a touchscreen control center puts navigation and vehicle controls all within reach, minimizing distractions.
