“This is not justice, this is election interference,” Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said of former President Donald Trump’s conviction on all 34 felony counts in a Manhattan business records trial.

“This sentence is a complete misconduct,” Judge Vance said in a media statement.
The outcome of this trial will no doubt be appealed, but it is an embarrassment to our justice system that such a step should be necessary. The partisan leanings of these potential jurors show why politics should be fought at the ballot box, not in the courtroom. Ultimately, I believe the 2024 election will be decided by the American people, not corrupt judges and prosecutors. [Emphasis added]
Vance on Wednesday argued that Judge Juan Marchan deprived Trump of his First Amendment rights throughout the trial and called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) to open a federal investigation.
On Thursday night, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty on all charges. 34 felonies The case against him was brought by District Attorney Alvin Bragg (Democrat), who has long-standing financial ties to billionaire George Soros.
A jury found Trump guilty of falsifying business records, and Trump has denounced the case as a political witch hunt by Democrats seeking to preserve voting rights ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
