Walgreens Joins Amazon, Target, Walmart, Cutting Prices on Thousands of Items

Walgreens announced Wednesday it would slash prices on more than 1,000 national and private label products, news that comes as businesses try to combat inflation in President Joe Biden’s America.

“Unfortunately, price cuts at major retailers’ stores are unlikely to tamp down inflation, which is currently being driven primarily by rising prices in the service sector of the economy,” said John Carney of Breitbart News.

“Core commodity prices, excluding food and energy prices, fell in April both month-on-month and year-on-year, according to the Labor Department, while core services prices rose 5.3 percent year-on-year,” he added.

Fast food prices are rising across the US as people continue to struggle financially, Breitbart News’ John Nolte reported on May 23.

Consumer expert Andrea Woloch told Fox 5 it’s still too early to say whether customers are actually seeing savings.

“If you look at the list of items that were discounted at a store like Target, for example, the discounts weren’t huge — maybe 60 cents off a pack of goldfish,” Woloch explained.

Aldi recently Said The company is passing on $100 million in savings to customers by cutting prices on about 250 items in its stores, an initiative that will continue through Labor Day, WSIL reported May 12.

“We understand our customers are struggling financially and have difficulty purchasing everyday essentials, and we remain committed to helping them by reducing prices on more than 1,000 additional items,” Walgreens said in a statement.
