Florida Teens Rescue Man After Truck Plunges Into Canal

Two Florida teenagers rescued the driver of a car that fell into a canal Wednesday night, WSVN reported.

Two young men saved a man’s life after his truck plunged into a canal in Florida, and the local community and authorities have praised the young heroes for their bravery and quick actions. Tony Cooper and his friend, who were at a nearby restaurant at the time, saw the car lose control and sink into the canal. according to They contacted WSVN and without hesitation rushed to the scene, took off their shoes, jumped into the water and rescued the driver.

“We quickly took off our shoes and everything,” Cooper said, according to the outlet. “We literally jumped on the hood, unbuckled the seat belts and pulled them out. While we were in the car, I started yelling at him because he was heavy. As we yelled, he woke up and we helped him out of the car. After the driver was extracted from the truck, paramedics took him, conscious, to the hospital, but details about his current condition were unavailable, WSVN reported. Witness Dorothy Borgelin reported hearing a loud crash and watching the aftermath.

“Sure enough, I saw a car, a pickup truck, going into the water,” Borgelin recalled, according to the outlet. “Then two kids on the other side jumped in the water. They did a great job saving the man’s life.”

The exact reason why the car fell into the canal remains under investigation, according to WSVN.
