Seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton broke out in a sweat during a highly anticipated appearance on “Hot Ones,” a popular internet series in which celebrities are interviewed while eating increasingly hot wings.
Hamilton had considered cancelling his appearance on “The Hot Ones” altogether due to his fears over the Spice Challenge, with the F1 driver even considering pulling out while on his way to the studio.
“Even on the way here I was honestly thinking, ‘How do I get out of this?'” Hamilton admitted.

However, Hamilton noted that his busy schedule leading up to the role also played a role.
“Scheduling was part of it. [conflicts]But a lot of it was like, ‘I don’t know if I can do this,'” he said.

The British driver didn’t seem too upset by his first few wing-ups but was clearly surprised by how harsh his fifth wing-up was.
“Wow, that’s hard to talk about,” Hamilton said.

The sixth wing had “Da Bomb Beyond Insanity” sauce smeared on it and the driver appeared to be struggling.
But Hamilton ultimately made it through the interview, and by the end seemed keen to try another drink.
“It hurts to breathe. … Are you going to try again? You should send it back,” he said.

At one point during the interview, Hamilton mentioned a terrifying experience he had while surfing with 11-time World Surfing League champion Kelly Slater.
“The waves were 20 feet high and Kelly said, ‘There’s no way we can go out there,'” Hamilton said.
“I started paddling and got sucked into the kill zone. I turned around and saw four waves coming towards me. [I thought]”It’s over. It’s all over.”

Hamilton said his surfboard was ripped from under his feet and he nearly drowned.
“I heard the waves crashing above me,” he recalled. “My board ripped off and broke in half. I surfaced gasping for air, but another wave was coming, so I went under again. … I was out of breath. I was drowning.”
In February, Hamilton announced his intention to move from Mercedes-AMG Petronas to Scuderia Ferrari at the end of the 2024 season. All seven of Hamilton’s championships have been won with Mercedes.
