Anti-Trump attorney yells at CNN contributor in fierce argument over Trump conviction: ‘You’re lying!’

Anti-Trump lawyer George Conway called CNN contributor Scott Jennings a “liar” during a heated debate in New York on Friday over former President Trump’s unprecedented conviction.

Conway was infuriated after Jennings argued that convicting Trump would unite Republicans and “backfire” on Democrats.

“Scott is lying. That’s the problem with the Republican Party. The Republican Party is constantly drowning in lies. That’s a lie,” Conway told Jennings, her voice rising.

“Wait a second, what am I lying about?” Jennings asked.

“You’re lying!” Conway yelled back. “You’re lying, Scott. You’re lying about the law! You’re lying about what the jury was instructed to find. There was no underlying crime. They had to find intent to cover up an underlying crime.”

“What was the crime?” Jennings asked.

Conway also criticized CNN for hiring Jennings as a contributor.

“The problem with the Republican Party is they’re full of lies,” he said. “I don’t know why this network is paying Scott to tell those lies.”

Following this comment, CNN host Casey Hunt jumped in to comment.

“Hold on, OK, George, let’s not go there,” Hunt told Conway. “Scott is our colleague and we’re going to treat him with the respect that we do.”

“This is ridiculous,” Conway said.

Jennings argued that Trump’s trial appears politically motivated.

“The atmosphere at the party reminds me a little bit of the Kavanaugh era,” he said. “It goes back to the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. [in] “2018. I remember that time period, MAGA people were furious, non-MAGA people, anti-Trump people, pro-Trump people, every faction of the party was furious about what was being done to Kavanaugh.”

“I feel like the same thing is happening today, and that’s why I think this is probably going to backfire politically for Democrats and that they’re going to regret it,” Jennings said, as Conway muttered to herself in a low voice.
