Frost on Trump conviction: Most Americans ready to move past 'global embarrassment'

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) commented on former President Trump’s recent conviction in a New York hush money case: Most Americans He said he was ready to move beyond “the global embarrassment that is Donald Trump.”

“It’s a sad day for our country,” Frost said in a post on social platform X on Friday. “Our former president and current leader of the Republican Party is a convicted felon, convicted rape offender and known bigot and racist.”

“I know that most Americans are ready to move on from the global embarrassment that is Donald Trump,” Frost continued.

Trump became the first former president to be convicted of a crime after a jury found him guilty on Thursday of all charges of falsifying business records to hide an alleged affair during the 2016 campaign.

Following the guilty verdict, Trump slammed the trial.

“This has been a fraudulent and dishonorable trial. The real verdict will be given by the American people on November 5th. They know what happened here, everyone knows what happened here,” Trump said outside the courtroom after the verdict was read.

President Biden on Friday pushed back against President Trump’s call of the trial “rigged,” calling it “irresponsible” and “reckless.”

“It is reckless, dangerous and irresponsible to say there was fraud simply because you don’t like the verdict,” the president said.

“Our system of justice must be respected and we must not allow anyone to destroy it. That’s all there is to it,” Biden continued.
