‘Trump Hasn’t Lost His Voting Rights in Florida’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) clarified Friday that former President Donald Trump still has the right to vote in Florida elections, despite a Manhattan jury convicting him on 34 charges that District Attorney Alvin Bragg alleged were felonies.

“Former President Donald Trump did not lose his right to vote in the state of Florida. He will not be disenfranchised in the state of Florida unless he has already been disenfranchised in the jurisdiction where he was convicted,” DeSantis explained in X’s post.

“However, given the absurdity of the New York prosecution against Mr. Trump, this case should easily qualify for restoration of rights under the rules of the Florida Board of Pardons, which I chair,” DeSantis added.

“At the end of the day, your vote for Donald Trump in November will be one of the millions of votes that will show Florida is now a strong Republican state,” the governor concluded in the post.

DeSantis’ clarification on Trump’s voting rights came after Democrats and left-wing activists incited the 45th president to call him a “convicted felon” after a Manhattan jury found him guilty on all 34 charges in his business records trial.

Many left-wing boasters took to social media to repeat the claim that Trump would not be able to get Florida to vote for him in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

“Because Mr. Trump is a convicted felon, under Florida law he cannot even vote for himself in an election!” scoffed Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.). “That’s karma!”

Others spreading the false information included online celebrities. Luke Beasley and Santiago Mayer,Film director Bree NewsomConnecticut State Senator. Matt Lesserand many other left-wing accounts.

As Breitbart News’ Joel Pollack reported, the 34 counts of falsifying business records that Trump was convicted of are misdemeanors that are normally time-barred.

“District Attorney Alvin Bragg prosecuted the case as a felony, arguing that the alleged falsification of business records was done to cover up federal crimes. Mr. Trump has never been convicted of any such crime, and prosecutors did not specify what crimes were committed or have to prove that element,” Pollack explained.
