The Knicks could lose one of their top assistant coaches.
ESPN reports that the Cavaliers have received permission to interview associate head coach Johnny Bryant for their vacant head coaching position.
Bryant, 38, is close to signing Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell, who is eligible to sign a maximum four-year, $200.4 million extension this offseason.
Bryant spent four years on coach Tom Thibodeau’s staff.
Previously, he was with the Jazz, first in player development and then as an assistant coach, where he helped Mitchell develop into one of the best guards in the league.
According to ESPN, the Cavs also received permission to interview Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson, former Nets head coach and Pelicans assistant James Borrego and Heat assistant Chris Quinn.
