Public health officials in Seattle and King County issued the warning after a case of measles was reported in an adult returning from Europe, who is believed to have traveled through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Fox News Digital.
The infections were confirmed after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the number of U.S. measles cases in 2024 already matches the 2023 total.

As of May 30, 2024, a total of 146 measles cases have been reported from 21 jurisdictions in the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York City, New York State, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, Washington State, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
In 2024, 11 outbreaks (defined as ≥3 associated cases) were reported, with 69% of cases (101 of 146) being outbreak associated. In comparison, in 2023, 4 outbreaks were reported, with 48% of cases (28 of 58) being outbreak associated.
According to the Seattle and King County alert, the infected adult traveled through Seattle International Airport on May 10 and 11. The individual’s measles vaccination status is unknown, according to reports.
Health officials said the infected adult lives in Arizona and likely became infected while traveling in Europe, but officials have not said which European countries the infected person traveled to, according to reports.
