Man Arrested For Alleged Sextortion Of 9 Young Girls

Police in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, arrested a man after he posed as a teenage boy on social media and blackmailed nine girls, soliciting obscene photos from them, FOX29 reported.

Jonathan Brodeck, 21, is accused of befriending nine girls as young as 12 on Snapchat and Instagram and sexually blackmailing them. Fox 29.

Investigators allege Brodecki used the Snapchat account “jack_goodric” to convince the girls he was a middle or high school student to exchange sexually explicit images with victims between the ages of 12 and 15, FOX29 reported. When authorities searched Brodecki’s home in March, they found multiple electronic devices that indicated he had created fake Instagram accounts to deceive girls, the outlet reported.

Prosecutors allege Brodecki threatened to rape a 13-year-old girl and posted compromising photos she sent him, FOX29 reported.

FOX 29 interviewed Brodecki’s father, who said the family is pleading for help for Jonathan. “Mental illness is widespread and you don’t know it’s happening to someone you love until it happens.”

Bensalem Police Department Public Safety Chief Sergeant William McVay told FOX 29 that parents worried about similar cases of sexual assault “shouldn’t be afraid to take away their kids’ phones. Set rules, know what apps your kids are using, have conversations with your kids so they have someone to talk to when something like this is happening.”

Brodecki turned himself in to police on Thursday and was charged with nine counts of sexual abuse of a child and 14 counts of unlawful contact with a minor, FOX29 reported.

He is currently being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $5 million bail, according to the outlet.
