Tommy Pham is not a guy to mess with.
Just ask Joc Pederson.
But it was William Contreras who drew Pham’s ire when he met with the media after the White Sox’s loss to the Brewers on Sunday, with the MLB veteran speaking as if the pro wrestler was making a promotional pitch.
With two outs in the top of the eighth and the White Sox down 4-3, Pham was sent to home plate attempting to hit for the tying run, but the throw to home plate was easily taken by Pham, who was tagged out by Contreras, who celebrated wildly as he headed to the Milwaukee dugout.
Pham didn’t seem too pleased and immediately began yelling abuse at Contreras, forcing the umpire and then the team to restrain Pham.
The on-field mayhem didn’t go beyond Pham continuing to yell at the Brewers, but after the game, when asked about the incident, he gave a heated response to reporters.
“I’m glued to the house a mile away and I go into the dugout and I hear the tough guys hustling,” Pham said. “I’m never going to start anything, but I’m ready to end it. There’s a reason I get into all kinds of fights in the offseason, because I’m ready to beat the crap out of somebody.”
“Just take it as it is,” Pham said, and walked away.
The incident had no effect on the final outcome of the game, as the White Sox’s miserable season ended with a 6-3 loss to the Brewers, dropping their record to 15-45 for the year.
The Brewers went on to win the series against the White Sox, but Contreras was unfazed by Pham’s fury.

“I didn’t really pay much attention to what he was saying.” Contreras told reporters:“I walked back to the dugout excited about that play.”
Pham famously slapped Pederson. The incident occurred in 2022 during batting practice before a game between the Giants and Reds, the teams both players played for at the time.
The controversy began in a fantasy football chat group.
