Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) slammed Dr. Anthony Fauci during testimony before the Select Subcommittee on COVID-19 on Monday, criticizing him on a range of topics from dog testing to students wearing masks in schools and questioning his “so-called science.”
Greene began her questioning by bringing up Fauci’s past claims that he represents science itself.

“You said you represent science. Do you represent science? Mr. Fauci? Yes or no. Yes or no,” the congresswoman said, to which Fauci responded that it wasn’t a yes or no answer.
“I don’t think so,” Fauci said, to which Greene replied, “I take it you don’t know what you represent.”
“As the director of NIH, you approved these so-called scientific experiments, and as a dog lover, I want to say that what you approved is horribly evil,” she said, holding up a photo of an experiment exposed by the Whitecoat Waste Project (WCW) that involved the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), directed by Director Fauci, which awarded $424,455 in taxpayer money to a university between September 16, 2020 and January 15, 2022 to test the efficacy of a lymphatic filariasis vaccine in dogs.
WCW called the experiments “unnecessary” and said that “the puppies were injected with experimental drugs and deliberately infested with flies that carry disease-causing parasites before being euthanized,” as detailed by Breitbart News at the time.
“These experiments done on beagles were paid for by American taxpayers, and I want Americans to know that they are not paying their taxes to make animals suffer in this way. So, Mr. Fauci, the type of science you represent is abhorrent and it should stop,” she said, claiming that Fauci represents “the type of science that you profess to have made up the COVID rules, including six feet of social distancing and mask wearing for children.”
Fauci denied that he made the rules, sparking an argument between the two.
“Are you saying this is fake news?” Greene asked, to which Fauci replied, “I didn’t make anything up. … I said this is not based in science, it just popped up.”
“But this is science,” she said, holding up photos of cruel dog experiments.
“What does a dog have to do with what we’re talking about today?” Fauci joked.
“Your science experiment. This is what you approved. But you told the American people to stay six feet apart. You had to wear masks. But let’s talk a little bit more about the type of science that you represent,” Green continued.
“NIH scientists have been getting $710 million in royalties from junk drug manufacturers, and this fact has been hidden. Let’s discuss this fact. Is it right that scientists and doctors who are on the payroll of the American people, the government taxpayers, are getting patents that are being paid millions, hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties? Especially when the NIH and these government agencies, the most powerful agencies in the country, are recommending medical suggestions and advice, making guidelines like six feet of distance, kids wearing masks,” Green said, asking Fauci, “Do you think that’s appropriate? Mr. Fauci, do the American people deserve to be mistreated like this?”
Greene caused a stir in the room when she refused to call Fauci a doctor, saying, “Because in my time, that man is not qualified to hold a medical license.”
“In fact, the sentence should be set aside and he should go to prison,” she added.
After several minutes of debate among her colleagues over her comments, Greene held up a photo of Fauci throwing the first pitch at a Washington Nationals baseball game, ignoring mask-wearing and distancing rules while everyone else was forced to stay home during the pandemic.
“Remember the cardboard cutout fans? That was one of the most insulting things to the American people, watching the game at home, sitting next to each other enjoying the game, not observing six feet of distance, not wearing masks, while everyone else is forced to stay home and stop enjoying life,” she said, noting that Dr. Fauci’s science was “perfectly on display” in the photo.
And Dr. Anthony Fauci has just told us everything he knows about how effective masks are. Thank you, sir, for the lesson. pic.twitter.com/jdHPzq5HfB

“Kids in schools were trapped in plastic balloons because of your science, your nasty, evil science. Going back to your own email … This is your own email. You said that generic drug store masks are not very effective at preventing the virus. ‘We do not recommend wearing masks.’ This is your email. These are your own words. And yet children, children all over America were forced to wear masks. Healthy children were forced to wear masks, silenced in schools, and then forced to learn from home, because of your so-called science and medical suggestions,” she said, noting that all the while, Fauci and his “crew are being paid by Big Pharma.”
“You know what this committee should do? We should recommend that you be indicted. We should write a criminal complaint because you should be indicted for crimes against humanity. Dr. Fauci, you should go to jail,” she added.
