House Republican uses AOC’s insult to rip silence on 2 cops shot allegedly by migrant gang member: ‘Baby girl’

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (NY-RN) criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-DN) for not commenting on the shooting deaths of two police officers by a Venezuelan gang member in her New York City precinct.

Malliotakis used the words of Ocasio-Cortez, the progressive Democrat who had a heated exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) during a congressional hearing last month.

“Hey baby girl,” Malliotakis wrote to X on Tuesday night, tagging Ocasio-Cortez. “Two police officers in your district were shot by illegal immigrants who we now know were Venezuelan gang members who were being put up in a hotel at my constituents’ expense and you still haven’t said anything? Really?”

The Republican congressman, whose seat includes New York City, posted a screenshot of a New York Post article saying that sources told the paper that 19-year-old Bernardo Raul Castro Mata, the suspect arrested in the shooting deaths of NYPD Officers Richard Iarrusso and Christopher Abreu, has tattoos that suggest to investigators he may be a member of Venezuela’s “bloodthirsty” Tren de Aragua gang.

Fox News Digital reached out to Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional office for comment early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say Castro Mata entered the United States illegally in July of last year near Eagle Pass, Texas, and was staying at an immigrant shelter in East Elmhurst, Queens.

Castro Mata has never been arrested in New York City before, but police say he is a suspect in a series of robberies and is part of a group that uses electric scooters to commit crimes.

The shooting happened just before 1:45 a.m. Monday at the intersection of 89th Street and 23rd Avenue in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, when two officers from the 115th Precinct’s Public Safety Unit attempted to stop a male suspect who was riding a scooter the wrong way. Police said Castro Mata fled on foot and opened fire on two officers, who returned fire.

The two officers have since been released from hospital, and Castro Mata was also injured and reportedly underwent surgery on his ankle.

Last month, when the House Oversight and Judiciary Committee convened to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Mo.) interrupted Republican Rep. Greene to ask, “Do you know what we came here for?” Greene retorted that the Democrat didn’t know, and privately quipped, “Her fake eyelashes are ruining what you’re reading.”

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez also called for Greene to retract her comments. “This is completely unacceptable. How dare you attack someone for their appearance,” she said.
