Hunter Biden’s wife’s calm, cool body language as she confronted her embattled husband in court was reminiscent of Melania Trump’s “‘I’m cooler’ attitude,” one expert said.
Melissa Cohen Biden has accompanied Hunter to his Delaware firearms trial, which began this week, and has been hiding behind stylish sunglasses every day, projecting a cool demeanor.
“She’s got a bit of Melania’s ‘cool girl’ frown as she walks,” says body language expert Patti Wood. He told The Sun Regarding Melissa’s behavior in court.
“He shows more insecurity than she does, but she’s the cool girl and has an ‘I’m cooler’ attitude,” she added of her eldest son and his second wife. They got married just six days after meeting in 2019..
Wood pointed in particular to a photo of the couple standing outside the Wilmington courthouse, with Melissa’s chin up and her eyes hidden by dark sunglasses.
“She’s wearing a mask of cool protection,” Wood explained. “Her hair is pulled back, she’s wearing sunglasses. The whole thing looks like a cover.”
“It’s a guise of, ‘I’m calm and collected in this situation,'” she continued, adding, “It’s very similar to how Melania Trump behaves in these situations.”
The former first lady was spotted looking emotionless outside Trump Tower on Tuesday, just days after her husband was found guilty on all charges in his Manhattan “hush money” trial.
But Wood said Hunter Biden also appeared to be hiding more obvious concerns about his own legal battles and relying on Melissa to help him through them.
“He shows more insecurity than she does, but she’s the cool girl and has an ‘I’m cooler’ attitude,” Wood noted.
“The look on her face, even the way she’s holding his hand up. She’s pulling him up and holding his arm up,” she said of one photo of the couple.
“They have that moment where he’s like, ‘I’m so sad, but I’m glad you’re here,’ and her body language is just like, ‘Let’s go. We have to leave.'”
Melissa’s mask gave way a bit during a break on Tuesday, when she denounced former Trump adviser Garrett Ziegler as “Nazi scum.”
Hunter Biden sued Ziegler and several others in California last year, alleging they violated the state’s Computer Fraud and Data Act by accessing his personal emails, photos and other data.
The eldest son is currently facing three firearms-related charges for possessing a gun while under the influence of drugs in 2018.
If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
