Steve Bannon Ordered To Report To Prison By July 1st

Former President Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon has limited time to seek higher court intervention after a federal judge on Thursday ordered him to report to prison by July 1.^st.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols granted prosecutors’ request to force Bannon to serve his sentence after a three-judge panel upheld his contempt of Congress conviction last month.

However, Judge Nichols made clear in his ruling that Bannon could seek a stay of the order, which could lead to a delay in his extradition date.

Nichols, a judge appointed by President Trump, had initially said Bannon could remain free while he fought his conviction, but a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit found Bannon’s challenge to be without merit.

In 2022, Bannon was convicted of two counts of contempt of Congress.

One count of refusing to testify on January 6th.^NumberOne was before a House committee, and the other refused to provide documents related to his involvement in an alleged attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
