The Republican National Committee’s (RNC) research arm posted to X several videos that appear to show President Biden in a “state of constant confusion” following his speech in Normandy on Thursday marking the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings.
Former President Donald Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee-run investigative account posted a flurry of posts about the president’s X at Normandy, including one video that showed Biden hunched over at one point, uncertain as to whether it was time to sit down.
“Awkward,” the Republican National Committee captioned the video.

The Republican National Committee’s research arm posted several videos on Thursday that appear to show President Biden in a “constant state of confusion.”
Biden appeared to make a gaffe in a speech to veterans of the Normandy landings in which he urged allies to support Ukraine in its war with Russia by saying hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers had been killed in Ukraine.
“The Russian army suffered heavy losses. The figures are staggering: 350,000 Russian soldiers killed or wounded,” he said.
Later, in an interview with ABC’s David Muir, Biden claimed he’d “known Putin for over 40 years,” despite Putin’s work as a Soviet secret agent for the KGB throughout the 1980s.
“I’ve known him for over 40 years. For 40 years he’s worried me. He’s not a decent human being,” Biden told Muir.

In another clip, Biden was seen walking away with his wife, Gilles, while French President Emmanuel Macron greeted and spoke with World War II veterans. In another video of the exchange, Biden was heard telling Macron, “The advance guard told me to leave first.”

At 81, Biden is the oldest person to hold the presidency and has faced skepticism from voters and Republicans about his ability to do the job, with many Republicans and even Democrats saying the president has let his age show in private meetings.
Most of the people interviewed by the outlet were Republicans who were critical of Biden’s performance, but some Democrats said the president’s age was showing in some of his interactions. Those interviewed were either in the Biden meetings or were briefed on them at the time, and included administration officials and other Democrats who didn’t express concerns about the president’s handling of the meetings.

“Republicans in Congress, foreign leaders and bipartisan national security experts have made clear in their own words that President Biden is a wise and capable leader with a strong legislative track record,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said. “Now in 2024, House Republicans are making this false claim as a political tactic that is completely contradictory to previous statements they and their colleagues have made.”
