Two Men Pretend to Need Help, then Beat Good Samaritan and Steal His Car

A “good Samaritan” in Memphis, Tennessee was beaten and his car stolen with his dog inside after stopping to help a thief posing as a person in need.

The incident happened on Saturday at a Shell gas station on Summer Avenue, when two unknown individuals approached the victim and said they were out of gas and money, according to Memphis Police Department (MPD). Said.

The victim was trying to fill a gas container in the suspects’ silver Chevrolet sedan when two men “assaulted” him, striking him “several times with a gun,” police said.

The suspects then took the victim’s vehicle keys. One of the suspects fled in the victim’s black 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, with a brown Labrador retriever inside. The second suspect followed in a sedan that he drove to a gas station, MPD said.

Police authorities also provided detailed descriptions of both suspects.

Suspect 1 is described as a black male, between 18-21 years old, 5’7″ – 5’10” tall, wearing a black hoodie with red and white lettering and black and white jeans.

Suspect 2 is described as a black male, between 18 and 21 years old, 5’6″ to 5’9″ tall, wearing a grey blue hoodie with blue and white lettering and blue jeans.

In an update Tuesday, police said the victim’s dog, Hershey, was “found safe” in the 5000 block of Willow Springs Drive.

“Plans are being made to reunite the victim with her dog. The investigation remains ongoing,” authorities said.

The stolen Silverado and the two suspects have not yet been found, and police are urging the public to come forward with any information to the department.
