Trump, Biden supporters sharply divided over ‘culture war’ and ‘woke’ issues: Here’s where they stand

A Pew Research Center survey found that supporters of President Biden and former President Trump are sharply divided over what are described as “culture war” and “woke” issues, including gender identity, the harshness of the U.S. criminal justice system and illegal immigration.

The poll, conducted April 8-14 among 8,709 U.S. adults, comes as both candidates are preparing for what is expected to be a fierce election battle in November.

According to a Pew Research Center poll, 90% of Trump supporters believe that a person’s gender is determined by the sex they were assigned at birth, compared with just 39% of Biden supporters. Nearly 60% of Biden supporters said that a person’s gender can be different from the sex they were assigned at birth, compared with just 9% of Trump supporters.

When it comes to the criminal justice system, 81% of Trump supporters say it is not tough enough on criminals, while only 40% of Biden supporters say the same.
