Boxer Knocked Out in Seconds, Sparks Controversy
On Friday, an unexpected moment unfolded in a boxing match when Edwin Castillo was knocked out just five seconds into the fight, raising eyebrows among fans.
The 23-year-old Castillo faced off against 26-year-old Viktor Juerk during an undercard fight for Karen Choukajian vs. Paddy Donovan in Germany. As soon as they met in the center of the ring, Juerk landed a strong left hook that sent Castillo sprawling to the mat.
While Castillo lay on the canvas, Juerk appeared unfazed, and the announcer quickly called for medical personnel to attend to Castillo.
After the referee exited the ring, fans began talking about the peculiarities of the brief match. Many pointed out that Juerk had seemingly tricked Castillo into a moment of sportsmanship by touching gloves just before the official start. One user commented, “He tried to touch the glove and got sucker punched.”
Critics remarked that Juerk’s action was unfair, emphasizing the surprise element of the early knockout. Some interpreted Juerk’s behavior as a ruse, noting the way he manipulated the moment to gain an advantage.
There were further allegations that the punches Juerk threw didn’t even connect cleanly with Castillo. Still, Castillo remained down for well over two minutes, prompting suspicion and concern among viewers.
This match marked Juerk’s 12th knockout in his career, bringing his record to 14-0. On the other hand, Castillo now sits at 13-3, with three losses appearing in his last four bouts.
