Ireland immigration ‘a weapon’ used to change demographics

The United States is not the only country being overwhelmed by an influx of illegal immigrants; Ireland is facing a similar fate.

“I miss the days when it was just Polish immigrants,” YouTuber Keith Woods told Lauren Chen. “I think people will be nostalgic for that time very soon.”

“This is happening in all English-speaking countries, but countries like Canada, the United States and Ireland have seen their populations grow by about 3% in just the year since COVID-19, purely through immigration,” Woods continues. “Ireland has seen its population grow by 3.5% in one year to 2023, which is one of the largest population increases in history for any country, by any measure.”

Woods said Ireland’s surge in illegal immigration was “because the government was basically advertising the services that they were offering to asylum seekers”.

Mr Woods also warned that Ireland was taking in 10 times the number of Ukrainian refugees than the EU average.

“In the last three or four years, we have seen a surge in the recording of legal migration and also of illegal migration, including so-called asylum seekers from non-European countries, coming from countries such as Nigeria, Algeria and the Ukraine crisis,” he explains.

Skepticism about illegal immigration existed among the public, but it had no political equivalent.

“All political parties supported this. There was total consensus among the elites, total consensus of the entire political paradigm, consensus of the entire media. So it’s an interesting case at the moment,” he says.

Cheng points out that while statistics reflecting Ireland’s immigration boom may not seem all that dire, that’s not the case.

“3% doesn’t sound like a huge number when you hear it in isolation,” Chen says, “but what people really need to understand is that, left unchecked, I firmly believe Ireland’s birth rate will be below replacement level.”

“The fact that we’re seeing a 3% increase is actually more than that, because we’re pretty sure that without immigration the population would be slightly smaller,” she added.

Woods also points out that immigrants aren’t just there to help others.

“Traditionally, this has been a weapon used to change demographics,” Woods said. “That’s hard to undo.”
