Keep fighting?
Days after Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler’s pre-fight press conference was abruptly cancelled just 12 hours beforehand, the Irishman posted a 10-slide training video in preparation for their UFC 303 showdown, scheduled for June 29th.
McGregor will be returning to the Octagon for the first time in three years after breaking his leg in a 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier.
With the press conference canceled and no explanation given since, fans’ expectations have turned to anxiety.
“After consultation with UFC, due to a series of obstacles beyond our control, the press conference has been canceled,” McGregor wrote on X.
“I apologise to our Irish fans and fans around the world for any inconvenience caused and I thank you all for your passion and support. I can’t wait to put on the greatest show ever in the Octagon.”
According to MMA insider Ariel Helwani, the reason for the cancellation was not due to any legal issues or incident, but rather to raise further questions about McGregor’s health.
The video appears to show multiple training sessions, but it is unclear when they took place.
The caption included two emojis: a goat and praying hands.
McGregor’s commitment has been called into question as he is frequently seen partying, but he has never backed out of a UFC fight he committed to.
Helwani also spoke about the current state of the fight. on his show, “The MMA Hour.”
“The fight is still going on. At this very moment, the fight is still going on,” Helwani said.
McGregor’s Instagram post to his 47.6 million followers further bolstered optimism that the fight will go ahead as scheduled.
