Yuki Tsunoda makes his F1 status for 2025 official

Visa Cash App RB F1 Team has officially announced it.

Yuki Tsunoda will remain with the team until the 2025 F1 season.

Just before qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, the team announced that the driver had signed a new contract that will keep him in his current seat until the 2025 F1 season.

“We’ve followed Yuuki’s progress in Formula 1 with interest since before his return to Faenza and he has made remarkable progress year on year,” said team principal Laurent Mekies. “His step up this year has been phenomenal and he continues to amaze us all race by race. There’s no doubt about his natural speed, and now he’s joined by a more mature approach and this combination makes him an extremely fast and consistent performer and a great team player.”

“We continue to move forward together, with Yuuki as a driver and as a team as Visa Cash App RB, as we continue to gain a deeper understanding of what he wants from us and vice versa. We share the same ambitions, so there are several reasons to continue the journey together. He still has a lot to contribute!”

Team CEO Peter Beyer hailed the driver as a “valuable asset” to the team.

“Yuuki is a graduate of both the Red Bull and Honda junior driver programs and the great work of everyone involved has allowed him to reach his current performance level. As the saying goes, ‘never change a team that’s winning,’ so we’re pleased to have Yuuki as part of our future,” said Beyer. “He’s a valuable asset on and off the race track and his engaging personality has made him very popular with fans around the world. We’re delighted to have him with us.”

Meanwhile, Tsunoda expressed his gratitude to the entire Red Bull family and said he was very happy to have his future decided so early this season.

“I’m very happy to stay with Visa Cash App RB and it feels good to have my future decided so early this year. So I want to thank everyone at Red Bull and Honda who have played and will continue to play such an important role in my career. The team has a big development project and I’m really looking forward to being part of it,” said Tsunoda. “It’s great to know that everyone appreciates all the effort I’ve put in so far and that the team believes I can help them move further up the grid. We’ve made clear progress already this season and that motivates me to always do my best, and I’ll continue to do that with VCARB.”

“For now, I just want to focus on the remaining races of this season, bring home as many points as possible, constantly grow with the team and build the foundations to do even better next year.”

Teammate Daniel Ricciardo is expected to retain VCARB’s other seat in 2025, fending off a challenge from reserve driver Liam Lawson, with the remaining five points.
