Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) said one of his staff members and a friend were robbed “at gunpoint” by “three men” in the Navy Yard area of Washington, DC.
Collins I have written X’s post said that “three men” had “attempted to rob” an unnamed staff member and a friend. The men reportedly “took his watch” and another man was punched in the face.
“Early this morning, three men attempted to rob one of my staff members and a friend at gunpoint in the Navy Yard,” Collins wrote. “One assailant stole his watch and the other punched him in the face.”

“Our nation’s capital has become a battlefield because of Washington’s pro-criminal policies,” Collins continued. “We are grateful that the attackers were repelled and that these two young men are safe.”
A total of 5,336 violent crimes occurred in 2023, up 39% from 3,850. report That will likely happen sometime in 2022, according to data from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).
The nation’s capital reported 274 homicides in 2023, the city’s highest annual number of homicides since 1997.
So far, violent crime in Washington, D.C., is down 26 percent through 2024, according to MPD data.

Under this bill, police officers approved The initiative will institute new policies “conducting vehicle pursuits when there is an imminent threat,” create penalties for “new felony offenses for endangerment with a firearm and illegal disposal of firearms and ammunition,” allow MPD to “declare drug-free zones” in hotspots where crime or drug activity is increasing, and more.
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (Democrat) signed the bill into law in March.
In a press release, Pinto said: explanation “I am signing this bill on a permanent and emergency basis, with most of its provisions taking immediate effect,” Bowser said.
