Biological male who identifies as female wins Miss Maryland USA competition

Bailee Ann Kennedy is the first transgender woman to win the Miss Maryland USA pageant. SaidA “transgender woman” is someone who is biologically male but identifies as a woman.

The pageant added that Kennedy is the “first Asian American” to win the title, “the first person to win the crown at age 31,” “the first married woman to win the crown in 67 years” and “the first military wife.”

“I knew it would mean a lot to all the LGBTQ kids who might have felt outside the box growing up.”

Kennedy posted the following message on June 2nd: Instagram After the victory:

Not everyone has to agree with the place you occupy, and that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve these opportunities. My job for the rest of my life is to help kids who feel the way I do to just be themselves and contribute positively to society without having to worry about the consequences of being who they are.

For a long time, I didn’t have to tell anyone. Not because it was a secret, but because it was nobody’s business. The people who are important to me don’t care. The people who want to know such private, intimate details don’t care.

I can’t wait to begin my reign and return to the USO office to serve lunch and personally thank our active duty military members as I originally planned to do yesterday, because that’s something that means so much to me.

In an interview with a Maryland broadcaster WDVM-TV (AKA DC News Now) Kennedy said the win “was a whirlwind because I knew it was bigger than me. I knew it was going to mean a lot to all the LGBTQ kids out there who might have felt like they didn’t fit in the box like I did growing up.”

WDVM also noted that Kennedy felt support from a “sisterhood” of women competing in the pageant.

The new Miss Maryland USA said her win will “open people’s hearts, open doors, [the] “The LGBT community exists in the world, and I hope to contribute positively to society by making a difference, like the USO program I’m working on.”

of The Daily Mail Kennedy, who has been married to her military husband for less than a year, is now aiming to compete for the Miss USA title in Los Angeles in August.

Newsweek Conservatives who opposed President Kennedy are skeptical of former President Donald Trump, who was in power in 2012. Rejected Transgender contestants were banned from the Miss Universe pageant. At the time, Trump owned the Miss Universe Organization and Miss USA Part.
