Uncasville, Connecticut – The Connecticut Sun, one of the best teams in the WNBA at 9-1, easily defeated the 3-9 Indiana Fever, led by Caitlin Clark, in the first half at Mohegan Sun Arena.
The Suns took a commanding 55-35 lead into halftime, but the most notable moment of the first half came when Suns guard DiJonai Carrington fouled Clark just after Clark received an inbounds pass from teammate Christy Wallace.

Clark came off a screen, caught a pass and started to drive to the basket. A screen from Aaliyah Boston prevented Carrington from getting close enough to Clark that she ran into him.
However, Carrington did not like the call and thought Clark had exaggerated the foul. After the whistle blew, Carrington began to taunt Clark. When Carrington made the gesture, the crowd booed. Not surprisingly, there was a large crowd at Mohegan Sun Arena to watch Clark.
Though it was hard to hear on television, from inside the arena, it was clear that a large portion of the crowd was not pleased with Carrington’s taunting of Clark, especially since she had clearly committed a foul on the Fever rookie.
Interestingly, in-arena replays showed the foul, but the replay team chose to cut the video instead of showing Carrington’s mocking gesture.

Several people on social media pointed out Carrington’s early fumble, but Clarke didn’t ridicule him or post a video of the incident.
That being said, Carrington certainly held his own defensively against Clark, peeling off a Fever guard for a buzzer-beating layup before the end of the first half.
