A national travesty would ensue, from which America may never recover.
Joey Chestnut, a 16-time Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championship champion who stands at the pinnacle of human athleticism, was banned from competing in the hot dog competition he made famous on Tuesday, according to the New York Post. According to Front Office Sports, Major League Eating banned Chestnut from the competition due to his sponsorship deal with vegan food companies.

This is a shocking revelation in the world of competitive eating: the greatest athlete of all time is no longer competing in America’s biggest competitive eating event, even though he’s still at the top of his game. Chestnut signed a deal with Impossible Foods, a company that sells plant-based hot dogs, but after signing the deal, he had a lot of demands, including eating an unknown hot dog and participating in Major League Eating. He said in a statement to the New York Post..
“We have worked under the same basic hot dog exclusivity agreement for nearly 20 years, but it appears that Joey and his managers have prioritized a new partnership with another brand over our longstanding relationship.
It’s been three weeks since Takeru Kobayashi retired, and the competitive eating world is in for a big blow with Chestnut no longer able to compete. But it also means more people will be able to take his place. This year’s Fourth of July is going to be very different.
