A woman accused of stabbing a 3-year-old boy to death outside an Ohio supermarket has been granted $5 million bail after smirking in court.

Bionca Ellis, 33, made her first court appearance online on Monday.

She refused to lift her head or answer the judge’s questions. Her lawyers stressed that Ellis had “significant mental health issues” and she was eventually called into court and turned herself in.

When the judge asked Ellis if he was guilty or not guilty, Ellis replied “Si,” Spanish for “yes.”

Ellis smiled and made eye contact multiple times for the cameras in the courtroom.

Police arrested Ellis last week after what appeared to be a random attack.

Surveillance camera footage shows Ellis walking around the store, with no one around seeming to notice she had a large knife in her hand.

Authorities say she stole the knife from a local thrift store.

When Ellis spotted Margot Wood pushing her three-year-old son, Julian, in a shopping cart, he quickly turned around and started chasing them.

As Margot was opening her trunk to put away her groceries, Ellis attacked them both.

Margot escaped injury, but Julian was mortally wounded.

Ellis is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of felony assault, one count of child endangerment, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of misdemeanor theft.

Julian’s father also spoke in court on Monday, pleading with the judge not to grant bail.

“Do whatever you can to keep this monster behind bars,” he said.

Despite Ellis’ request, bail was set at $5 million.

If convicted, she could face the death penalty.
