Anthony Cumia and Greg “Opie” Hughes ran an American radio show called “Opie and Anthony” for nearly a decade, but the pair went their separate ways after Cumia was fired for posting “racist and hateful comments” on social media.
A few years later, “Opie” followed Cumia out of the company after he was fired for filming an employee defecating.
Now, Cumia has finally answered the long-standing question: Will he reunite with Greg “Opie” Hughes?
“I know after he got fired you guys kept in touch on the phone and stuff but there’s no animosity anymore. When Opie hears you guys talking about him all he says is, ‘Oh Anthony’s a racist.’ But everybody knows it’s a joke.” Alex Stein Cumia says.
“I’d like to live in a world where at least everyone is friendly. I think the world would be a better place,” he added.
Stein is hopeful, Cumia less so.
“I got to the point where I didn’t want to be at war with him,” Cumia said, adding, “It was like a hot war. Then we had a cold war, and now we just leave each other alone.”
“We’re on different paths and have very different outlooks on life,” he continues. “We have a lot in common, like the way we see the world, but right now we’re on polar opposite sides.”
“So even if we could be civil to each other, I don’t think we’d be able to find common ground to talk about,” he concluded.
