Famous Musician Kevin Jonas Reveals He Underwent Surgery To Remove Cancer

Kevin Jonas revealed on Tuesday that he had surgery to remove skin cancer.

The Jonas Brothers lead guitarist documented his experience in a video he posted to his Instagram, captioning it, “A friendly reminder to get my mole checked 🙏.” In the video, he appears to be in a doctor’s office and says, “So today I’m getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head.”

“Yes, it is [an] “I actually have a little skin cancer that’s starting to grow and I have to have surgery to get it removed,” Jonas said in the video.

Later in the video, the eldest Jonas son shows himself post-surgery, revealing the areas where he had skin cancer removed, though he obscures the image with emojis to avoid any graphic details.

“Okay, I’m done. Now it’s time to heal,” he says later in the video. “Make sure you check your moles, guys.”

Jonas will continue to host the next season of ABC’s “Claim To Fame,” which premieres in July. according to Entertainment Tonight (ET), which he co-hosts with his youngest brother, Frankie Jonas.

Basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that “forms as lumps, bumps, or lesions on the outer layer of skin.” according to Cleveland Clinic. These bumps often form on areas of skin that are exposed to the sun a lot.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, basal cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer and also the most common type of cancer overall, with more than 4 million cases each year in the United States.
