Two men got lucky on Saturday after catching thousands of dollars worth of fish in California’s Big Bear Lake, ABC 7 reported.
In a thrilling move, two fishermen caught gold last Saturday in Big Bear Lake’s annual $50,000 Trout Derby. Each angler managed to catch one of five specially released rainbow trout, each tagged and worth a whopping $10,000. according to To ABC 7.

Rodolfo Vizcarra of Hemet was one of the lucky fishermen. ABC 7 reported that while the trout he caught was modest in size, it was over 15 inches long and weighed just over 1.6 pounds, proving that size isn’t everything in this high-stakes fishing contest. “I’m very excited. I’m really surprised. I didn’t expect it,” he said, according to ABC7. “I thought the $10,000 would be worth more because the fish was so small … if it was a bigger fish.”

The second lucky fisherman chose not to reveal his identity, but his catch was apparently large, weighing in at over 2.5 pounds, according to ABC 7. The event, designed to bring together fishing enthusiasts from across the country, did not disappoint, as the prized catch not only brought excitement but also a hefty reward.
