Fox News Legal Analyst Warns Weiss, Garland Could ‘Conjure’ Another ‘Sweetheart Deal’ To Save Biden

Fox News legal analyst Greg Jarrett warned Tuesday that special counsel David Weiss and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland could “come up with” another “sweet deal” ahead of Hunter Biden’s upcoming trial to save President Joe Biden from corruption allegations.

Jarrett appeared on “Hannity” to discuss Hunter Biden’s conviction on all three felony charges related to his October 2018 purchase of a Colt Cobra handgun, as well as his upcoming second trial in California for tax evasion. Fox host Sean Hannity asked Jarrett what he thought about Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop, which also contained evidence of purported ties to President Biden. “As you say, the Biden family has gotten away with the most serious charge, foreign power misappropriation, thanks to protection money run by Joe Biden’s Department of Justice. So it was really infuriating to see David Weiss have a victory march in front of the cameras today. He’s the guy who made the nasty deal to let Hunter Biden go, and only when that fell apart was Weiss forced to make a desperate plea, and yet he’s still obstructing justice,” Jarrett said.

“He charged Hunter with evading tens of millions of dollars in taxes in an overseas financial scheme, but not with the larger crime of betraying America – the enrichment scheme itself. Let’s not forget that it was Weiss who secretly shut down the DOJ and Weiss to protect Joe Biden, and time-barred many of those crimes. I assure you, Weiss, it’s not over yet. Don’t be surprised if he and Garland concoct another sweet plea deal for Hunter on the eve of trial to avoid embarrassing evidence of Joe’s corruption coming to light just before the next election. I think it’s going to happen.”

Hunter Biden was indicted by a federal grand jury on nine tax-related charges, including three felonies, in December 2023. After appearing in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in January, the president’s son pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to pay an estimated $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes owed for the 2016-2019 tax years, as well as a charge of evading 2018 tax payments by filing a false tax return in or around February 2020.

Judge Weiss offered the president’s son a plea deal before the trial last summer, but Presiding Judge Mary Ellen Noreika rejected it, saying the terms of the agreement could have given Hunter Biden immunity from prosecution for tax-related crimes.
