Caitlin Clark is the talk of the town in the WNBA right now, which has caused Angel Reese’s early success to go under the radar.
Former Louisiana State University star Reese was selected seventh overall in April’s draft by the Chicago Sky, who also selected University of South Carolina star Camila Cardozo third overall.
Reese was a walking double-double in college, averaging 18.6 points and 12.3 rebounds in his NCAA career and has nearly replicated those numbers as a pro.

She is averaging 11.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game in 10 WNBA games, notching four double-doubles this season and only one game where she failed to reach double figures in both categories.
It’s a solid start for Reese, and he credits Louisiana State coach Kim Mulkey for it.
“Kim Mulkey prepared me for this moment.” Reese told CBS Sports.“At LSU, practice was like four hours. I was prepared and I was practicing. I thought the training would be a lot harder. I really felt prepared. There were no surprises in the WNBA yet.”
Reese and Mulkey appeared to have a falling out during last season when Reese inexplicably missed four games and there was speculation he may have been serving a pseudo-suspension, though Mulkey never directly addressed the issue.

Reese experienced plenty of “welcome to the WNBA” moments and admitted she was “slammed” during her debut.
Luckily for Reese, rebounding and defense have always been her strengths, so the transition should be an easy one.
“To be honest with you, I think my speed is definitely good, but I know since I got into the league that defense and rebounding are always things you can take to the next level. I knew that was going to be my forte. I think I’ve done a great job with defense and rebounding. I think I still have room to grow offensively, but I think I’ve done a great job so far,” she said.
Reese’s Sky are 4-6, fourth in the six-team Eastern Conference and eighth overall in the 12-franchise league.
