Wells Fargo fires over dozen employees for allegedly faking work by simulating keyboard activity – New York Post

Wells Fargo fired more than a dozen employees last month after investigating allegations that they had been mimicking keyboard movements to pretend to be at work. Bloomberg News reported. Thursday.

The fired staff worked in the bank’s asset and investment management division, according to the report, which cited the bank’s disclosure documents filed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

“Wells Fargo holds its employees to the highest standards and does not tolerate unethical behavior,” a spokesman told Reuters.

It was not clear from regulatory disclosures whether employees were fired for pretending to work from home, the report said.

During the pandemic, devices and software called “mouse movers” or “mouse jigglers” became popular as companies were forced to allow employees to work from home.

Some users took to social media sites Reddit and TikTok to exchange advice on where to buy and how to use the gadgets.

Wells Fargo had asked most of its employees, including those in customer-facing roles, to return to the office and work under a hybrid, flexible work model in early 2022.
