Watch: Trump paints picture of GOP unity after meetings with lawmakers

Former President Trump visited Washington on Thursday to meet with House and Senate members, demonstrating unity with Republican lawmakers as the November election approaches.

After the two private meetings, Trump told reporters that Republicans agreed on “almost everything” and that they could “resolve” their differences with previously bitter lawmakers.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has a strained relationship with the GOP presidential nominee, shook Trump’s hand and called the meeting “positive,” marking the first time the two have met since their falling out after the 2020 election.

The visit was Trump’s first with lawmakers since he was convicted of 34 felony counts in a Manhattan hush money trial late last month and comes as Republicans in both houses of Congress have begun to craft an ambitious agenda if Trump is re-elected and takes control of both houses of Congress.
