Things got heated in the Nationals dugout on Friday night.
Infielder Nick Senzel and starting pitcher Mackenzie Gore collided at close range in the bottom of the second inning.
The two appeared to be having a heated argument when Mr Gore pushed Mr Senzel hard and the two were separated in a heated moment.
Before the heated exchange, Senzel wasn’t looking his best on the field.
Marlins pitcher Nick Fortes came to bat in the top of the second inning with runners on second and third and hit a grounder toward Senzel.
The corner infielder took a long hop and threw to first base, where Fortes had reached it and Miami had scored.
Senzel didn’t look like he was throwing the ball with much power, but if he had thrown it with more force he might have had a chance to finish out the frame.
Following the brawl, former Nationals closer Jonathan Papelbon, who clashed in the same dugout as Bryce Harper in 2015, offered some words of advice to his former team.
“Guys it’s much better to fight in the tunnel. Trust me I’ve learned my lesson already!!” he wrote to X after the incident, adding two crying-laughing emojis.
