Former President Trump appeared at a roundtable discussion at a Detroit church on Saturday afternoon to reach out to black voters.
During the discussion, 180 Church pastor Lorenzo Sewell told Trump he was “thrilled” by the former president’s visit.
“President Obama never came to this region, so to speak, right? President Joe Biden went to the big NAACP dinner, but he never came to this region. So, thank you,” Sewell said, drawing applause from the audience.
Later Saturday, Trump appeared at Turning Point Action’s “People’s Conference.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to the Biden campaign for a response to Sewell’s comments.
Sewell appeared on “Fox & Friends First” on Friday and said he couldn’t remember the last time a president announced a plan for the Black community until Trump introduced the Platinum Plan, which includes roughly $500 billion in funding for Black businesses and churches.
“These metrics are important to us, so we’re going to hold him accountable to the Platinum Plan that he’s created,” Sewell said.

During a visit to Detroit last month, Biden spoke at the NAACP’s 69th annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner, reiterating the importance of bringing people together and accusing Trump of being too divisive.
Ahead of Trump’s appearance, Biden is due to appear at a glitzy fundraiser in Los Angeles later on Saturday, headlined by Hollywood actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts and former President Barack Obama.
The Biden campaign said it expects to raise at least $28 million from Saturday night’s event.
