Two people were killed and multiple others injured in a shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Texas on Saturday, police said.
An argument broke out between two groups at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, and someone began shooting, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said. He said at a press conference.
Banks said the victims were not involved in the brawl and additional information about the victims was not yet available.
Those involved in the altercation quickly fled the scene. Police have not detained any suspects and are continuing to search for them as part of their investigation.
“It’s unfortunate that a tragedy occurred as we are here celebrating a wonderful event,” Banks said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and our condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives.”
The city and police are asking if anyone has video or information about the incident.
The chief did not release information about those injured. CNN reported: Emergency responders transported six people, including two children, to a local trauma facility, all of whom “suffered potentially serious injuries,” the statement said.
