Lakeland Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at the fast-food restaurant around 1 a.m. The shooting began with an argument between Gardner and a customer at the drive-thru window who was unhappy with his order.
Police said that during the argument, Gardner threw drinks at customers as they were leaving the store, and at one point, one of the customers reached his arm out the window, causing several items to fall to the floor.

“Two customers exited their vehicle, rolled down the drive-thru window and threw drinks at Gardner, who then armed himself with a handgun,” police said in a statement.
Authorities said the customers then drove around the building and Gardner came outside with a gun and another argument ensued, with the suspect then firing shots as the vehicle was leaving the parking lot.
