In a letter to James last month, Jordan requested information about former employee Matthew Colangelo, who delivered the opening statement in Trump’s New York trial while working for the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

Jordan sent letters to all of Colangelo’s recent employers, including the Justice Department, James’ office and the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat.

Colangelo served on several prosecutors’ teams investigating Trump companies and related charities.

“Mr. Colangelo’s recent work history demonstrates his obsession with character investigations. [Trump] rather than prosecuting a crime,” Jordan wrote in May.

Tuesday’s letter also requests the collection of similar records regarding Colangelo’s employment and if James misses the July 2 deadline.and“The Commission is prepared to resort to compulsory procedures to comply with our demands” by 2024.

Colangelo and Bragg are scheduled to address the House Judiciary Committee on July 12.Number.

Trump is scheduled to be sentenced the day before after being found guilty on all 34 charges brought by prosecutors alleging he falsified business records before the 2016 election.

“This will be the first time Congress has heard from the officials responsible for the prosecution of Mr. Trump.” The Hill report.

The request seeks most of the records relating to Colangelo’s tenure with James’ office, including all of his communications with members of the Trump Organization and related entities.

While working for the New York attorney general’s office, Colangelo was part of the team that sued Trump’s charity in 2018, alleging it had misused funds.

He also participated in an investigation into the Trump Organization itself toward the end of the Trump administration, which was the basis of James’ fraud lawsuit that led to Trump being fined $450 million this year.

Two years after leaving James’ office to take a senior position at the Justice Department, Colangelo returned to New York to work on Bragg’s team.

After his conviction, Trump vowed to appeal the so-called “hush money” ruling.

“They are working fully with the White House and the Department of Justice,” Trump said after the verdict. “This was all done by Biden and his aides… This was done by Washington. Nobody has ever seen anything like this.”
