Giants rookie Malik Nabers already trolling division rival before making debut

New York Giants first-round draft pick Malik Neighbors has yet to make his NFL debut, but there’s already been a feud between him and a division rival.

Dallas Cowboys top cornerback Trevon Diggs will likely see Neighbors frequently over the next few years, as they will face each other twice a season, but Diggs overheard Neighbors’ comments at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere event in May and said he couldn’t wait to see Diggs on the field.

Well, Diggs reposted the video on X and followed up with a confident tweet.

“The Giants have had seat belts in place for a few years now,” Diggs said, referring to the seat belt a cornerback typically wears when successfully covering a receiver.

Diggs points out that the Cowboys have dominated the Giants over the years, winning 13 of the last 14 meetings.

But Neighbours stepped up her attack on social media, reposting the video with a coffin emoji.

Neighbors also further inflamed the conflict with a now-deleted tweet that included a photo of NBAYoungBoy’s rap lyrics, saying, “…he’s tweeting and I’m watching it all.”

Finally, Diggs posted a video of Neighbors at the event again, this time using a ninja emoji.

Badmouthing is nothing new in the NFL, especially between players on both sides of the line of scrimmage.

But while Neighbors has yet to establish himself in the NFL, Diggs has been one of the best players at his position over the last four seasons with the Cowboys, and he’s been paid $97 million over the last five seasons.

But Neighbors knows the Giants drafted him sixth overall because his skill set makes him an immediate asset. He’s clearly confident in his abilities and his excitement to face Diggs may be a sign of respect for the Cowboys cornerback.

But apparently that statement wasn’t received that way. Giants and Cowboys fans will be excited to see what happens in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season when these two rivals face off for the first time.
