Nicole Kidman’s life in Hollywood: From Oscar nods to famous husbands

Born June 20, 1967, Nicole Kidman has enjoyed great success in Hollywood, with numerous Oscar nominations, one win, and a wide range of film roles.

Kidman made her film debut in the 1989 thriller Dead Calm. Shortly thereafter, she co-starred with her future boyfriend Tom Cruise in the 1990 film Days of Thunder.

Cruise and Kidman married the same year the film was released. During their marriage, the couple appeared together in two films, Far Away (1992) and Eyes Wide Shut (1999). In 1993, the couple adopted a daughter named Bella. In 1995, they adopted a second child, Connor. Cruise and Kidman divorced in 2001.

During Cruise and Kidman’s relationship, both their careers were on the rise, with Kidman starring in a number of films, including Billy Bathgate (1991), Batman Forever After (1995), and Portrait of a Lady (1996).

In 2002, Kidman received her first Academy Award nomination for her starring role as Satine in the 2001 film Moulin Rouge!

The following year, she won an Academy Award for her role in The Hours (2002). Other Oscar-nominated films that Kidman has starred in since include Rabbit Hole (2010), Lion (2016), and Being the Ricardos (2021).

Some of Kidman’s popular film roles include “Cold Mountain” (2003), “Simple Life” (2011), “Sleeping Beauty” (2014), “The Upside” (2017), “Boy Erased” (2018), and “Aquaman” (2018).

Kidman starred in the TV series Big Little Lies (2017-2019), which featured a mostly female cast that included Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep.

Kidman is married to country music star Keith Urban. The two tied the knot in 2006 and have since welcomed daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
